Anpu also spelled as Inpu, Ienpw or Imeut and falsely called Anubis from the Ancient Greek language.
Anpu is the most important god of underworld. Anpu whose name means a jackal headed god of mummification in Kemet.

Anpu was the son of Nephthys, and his father was Asar. Anubis known as Neter of Embalming, portrayed as a man with jackal head and holding scepter on his hand. He is also portrayed as a black jackal or as a black dog accompanying Isis.

Anpu was the god in-charge to protect and bring the dead on their path though the afterlife. His position as god of the dead was later took over by Asar during the Middle Kingdom.
